volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to meet others, grow confidence, and develop new skills or put your existing ones to good use. Whether you want to visit somebody who is socially isolated for a friendly chat, drive somebody to their medical appointment, support somebody to do their food shopping, or help us to run our many groups, your contribution can make a real difference to someone’s life.

We want every Volunteer to feel supported, appreciated, and fulfilled in their role. Everyone is welcome, and everyone has something to offer.

Perhaps you would like to learn new skills or gain experience, meet new people, stay active and support your own wellbeing, or give something back to your local community, whatever your reasoning for volunteering, we know the how life changing it can be for others, and for yourselves.

We are very lucky to have an amazing team of almost 70 loyal, hardworking Volunteers, all of whom have their own experience, knowledge, and stories, and allow us to support people in the communities of Kingsteignton and Newton Abbot.

We’re always happy to welcome new friendly faces. Maybe you would like to help with one of the following:

  • Helping us to run our social groups, including Memory Cafes, KingsCare Socials, and our Wellbeing Walks.
  • Creating celebration cards to put a smile on someone’s face.
  • Driving people to their medical appointments.

If you would like to become a volunteer, whether it’s for several hours per week, or just a few, contact us and we can find the perfect role for you!

It means a lot to be part of Kingscare - attending The Avenue and the Walking Group. I have been part of Kingscare for over 9 years. I volunteer at Kingscare to give something back to Kingscare who have helped me when my wife was very poorly. I can now help others and be a part of something special. I would not be here now without Kingscare.
Dave
Volunteer
I started volunteer driving with KingsCare in 2014. I have enjoyed meeting so many interesting people, particularly the friendly sense of humour! I’ve also volunteered at the KingsCare Tea & Chat and Kingsteignton Memory Café. I love being a Wellbeing Walk Leader each week, meeting so many people experiencing nature, good conversation, and a cuppa. It’s great to support people who are experiencing everyday difficulties and see a smile on their face. Volunteering gives me a sense of value.
