The Wellbeing Programme

One of 5 key voluntary sector providers in Southern Devon, KingsCare works with a variety of partner agencies and organisations. This multi-agency approach helps a client to navigate changes needed to benefit their health and wellbeing. Whether through personalised support, or a blend of activities and support, our clients identify goals and then work towards improving their own lives through making small but important changes. KingsCare has a special focus on improving connections so as to reduce social isolation.

Community connections are often vital to improving a person’s mood and ability to cope. The Programme delivers a range of services including social activities, dementia services, carer support, income generation advice and signposting. With a strong, skilled staff and volunteer base, our work is recognised by GPs, OTs, Dieticians, Social Care Teams, Community matrons and Community Nurses to name a few.

Working in partnership, we report quarterly on the positive impact to our funders, demonstrating that there are often fewer GP appointments or hospital admissions.

The success of the Wellbeing Programme depends on the Team member listening to what is important to a person and helping to navigate the opportunities to lift someone’s spirit or mood through conversation.

Our Co-ordinators are also trained HOPE Facilitators. The HOPE Programme is a person-centred, accredited programme which helps people to manage and build resilience of long-term conditions.

Often our Wellbeing clients become volunteers, choosing to give back to their community as a way of thanks.

It’s a privilege to support such a diverse group of people and to witness change.
