Newton Abbot Memory Cafe

Memory Café Reopening

We are pleased to announce that the Newton Abbot Memory Café will be reopening on the 17th June from 2.15 to 4pm.

Please note that for the June meeting we will be prioritising those people that were attending the Memory Café prior to lockdown. If you have attended the Memory Café previously and would like to come to our June session, please call the KingsCare office on 01626 357090 to book your space.

From July onwards we will hopefully be able offer spaces in the Memory Café to people who have not attended previously. If you are interested in being placed on the Memory Café waiting list, please call the KingsCare office.

Best wishes and hopefully see you soon,

David, Jackie and the Memory Café volunteers

Memory Cafés can be found all over Devon with many being independent of large organisations.

They’re run by local people for local people providing those living with memory problems and their carers, the opportunity to get support within an informal setting.

Everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome.

Each month a different activity will be offered, all helping to stimulate the memory.

Jackie our Carers Support Worker is on hand for a one-to-one chat about any concerns there may be.

The afternoon is free to all though we always have a small raffle table, and it frequently ends with a song or two.

My Memory Box

By Ivy Simmons (85 yrs)

Whilst browsing through my memory box a treasured gift to me

I came across some photographs that jogged my memory.

With three sisters and a brother, we used to rise at dawn

Because we lived beside a farm where the farmer reaped his corn.

First came the war and then the peace which some will never know who lie in the tranquillity that helps the world to grow.
