Briony and David hold a Memory Café every 3rd Thursday afternoon at the Avenue Church from 2:15 pm – 4:00 pm.

Memory Cafés can be found all over Devon, many are independent of any large organisation and are run by local people for local people. They give people living with memory problems and their carers the opportunity to get support within an informal setting. Everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome.

Each month a different activity will be offered, all helping to stimulate the memory. Briony is on hand for a one-to-one chat about any concerns there may be. The sessions frequently end with a song or two. The afternoon is free to all comers though we always have a small raffle table.

My Memory Box

By Ivy Simmons (85 yrs)

Whilst browsing through my memory box a treasured gift to me

I came across some photographs that jogged my memory.

With three sisters and a brother, we used to rise at dawn

Because we lived beside a farm where the farmer reaped his corn.

First came the war and then the peace which some will never know who lie in the tranquillity that helps the world to grow.
