In the 1966 comedy ‘Press for Time’ Norman Wisdom causes chaos in Teignmouth and Shaldon; in the 1969 movie ‘Run Wild, Run Free’ Mark Lester plays a troubled 10-year-old boy visiting Newton Abbot Market; and in 2013’s horror ‘The Borderlands’ Buckland and Denbury experience some very scary times!
These locally-filmed movies, and many more, were remembered in a talk about ‘The Movies of South Devon’ presented by historian Dr Kevin Dixon to the members of Kingsteignton’s Memory Cafe.
A warm welcome is offered to everyone who attends, along with refreshments and home-made cake. Every month is different, with occasional speakers, entertainers, quizzes and word games. The Memory Cafe is run by Jackie Milan, KingsCare’s Dementia Carer’s Support Worker, assisted by experienced volunteers.
Kingsteignton Memory Cafe is held on the second Tuesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm.
